In this video I show you how to make the sword of Perseus. This comes from a 200 year old statue in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Artist, Antonio Canova, created this sculpture in 1805. It is called Perseus with the head of Medusa.
We don’t carve it out of marble though. We use foamboard, paint and glue. That’s it! And it comes out terrific. I also show you a couple of clever techniques including beveling the hook of the sword and creating a box for the guard of the sword.
