We’re looking into players that could be signed in the January transfer window in order to save a team’s season!
Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have all had miserable starts to 19/20 by their very different standards, but which players could be signed in order to address their issues?
Manchester City clearly are in need of a centre back, having to rely on an out-of-form Nicolas Otamendi and an out-of-position Fernandinho at the heart of defence as things stand. Before the end of the January transfer window, both Aymeric Laporte and John Stones are expected to return - but this isn’t necessarily an end to their defensive woes.
There’s a sense that Man City need to find a long-term partner to Aymeric Laporte with Vincent Kompany having left the club, Nicolas Otamendi looking past his best, Eric Garcia seemingly not yet trusted and Fernandinho not finding life as a centre back as easy as Pep perhaps expected him to. For us, the perfect guy to step in would be RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate - who is pretty much the complete modern day central defender and is just twenty years old!
We’re also suggesting that Man Utd bring in Hakim Ziyech in order to make things tick in the final third as well as touting Ricardo Pereira to Spurs - these are signings that could allow under-pressure managers to revert to their preferred systems; Ole to a 4-2-2-2 and Poch to a 4-1-2-1-2.
Hakim Ziyech really made his mark on the European stage last season, with his creativity, pressing ability and knack for scoring outstanding goals in the Champions League being one of the many highlights of that instantly iconic Ajax side. Ricardo Pereira, meanwhile, looked like one of the most competent two-way full-backs in the Premier League last season, registering six assists.
What signing does your club need to make to reach their objectives this season?
