Here are Statman Dave’s predictions for the 2018/19 Premier League run-in for the champion ,top 4 & relegation. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City broke records on their way to win the Premier League last season, but Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have kept up with them this season.
The Premier League title race will go down to the wire with only two points separating the sides in the Premier League table. Sadio Mane has stepped up for Liverpool scoring 20 goals in all competitions for the third time in his career. If the Redmen are to win the title for the first time in Premier League history, Mane, Salah and Firmino must have a strong end to the season. Man City haven’t hit the heights of last year especially in midfield. Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva haven’t been anywhere near the standards they set last season, but Bernardo Silva has stepped up. Guardiola’s attack has stepped up too with Sterling, Sane and Aguero all having fine seasons in front of goal.
The battle for the top four has been the fiercest in recent memory with four clubs competing for two positions; Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal. Chelsea, who started theseason unbeaten in their first 12 games, have looked poor over the last two months with Sarri and Jorginho looking out of ideas. Whereas, Manchester United have seen their best form of the season since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as manager. Pogba, Rashford and Martial have all had excellent second halves of the season scoring goals for fun under the Norwegian. With Ole at the wheel, Man Utd are destined for a top four finish. Tottenham were title challenges in December, but injuries to their key quartet of Kane, Eriksen, Alli and Son have derailed their title run for another season. Expect Pochettino to recruit in the summer in search of extra depth up front. Arsenal may search qualification to next season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League. Unai Emery is a serial winner of that tournament and if Arsenal can beat Napoli, only Chelsea will stand in their way.
Relegation is a similar story with around five teams that will be battling for survival in this season.
